Bring It Downtown

Blazer: BB Dakota, Dress: c/o Ivy & Blu, Booties: Steve Madden (now super on sale!), Clutch: c/o Olivia + Joy, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets: Smart Set , Joe Fresh and Stella & Dot, Sunglasses: c/o Sunglass Warehouse

I was invited to be part of a local campaign called "Bring it Downtown" again this year, which is an initiative through Downtown Fredericton to encourage people to support local downtown business! 15 local bloggers/social media folks were invited to take part. You may remember that I participated last year as well, under the theme of "try something new" where I decided to head to my favorite downtown salon, Blonde Inc, and my "something new" was a new 'do! I chopped about 8 inches off my hair!

This year, our themes were based on banners hung on lamp posts around the city, and I got "get cultured". I wasn't sure how to make this fit in with the blog, exactly, but eventually decided on an evening of theatre at the Fredericton Playhouse. The fella and I had a festive date & went to see "Miracle on 34th Street", which was such a sweet performance! And I may have used a few of my downtown dollars to pick up the nail polish I'm wearing from Made You Blush (Deborah Lippmann's "Boom Boom Pow" which I layered over a dark blackish green) even though it didn't really fit the theme! ;)

I thought it would be the perfect occasion to wear this gorgeous sparkly striped dress from Ivy & Blu! It's so perfectly holiday and feels so very me - black, white, gold, stripes & sparkle? Yes, please. I also finally got to break out my new clutch from Olivia + Joy, in all of its black & gold studded goodness.

If you are a local reader, be sure to give downtown shops & services some love this holiday season! A big thanks to Downtown Fredericton for inviting me to take part again this year!

Bring it Downtown & The Story of the Chop!

A few weeks ago, I was invited to be part of a local initiative called Bring it Downtown! Downtown Fredericton invited 20 local people active on social media to be part of this super fun campaign, where they gave us $100 "downtown dollars" to spend within the downtown core of our city! The theme was to try something new, and after much internal debate, I figured out what my 'something new' should be...

THE CHOP.

I have been debating doing something different with my hair for quite sometime, and went back & forth between changing color and/or length. After seeing how layered and long (and ratty) my hair was getting in this blog post (incidentally, the same post that shows what I wore to the Bring it Downtown launch!) I decided to finally go for the cut. So, using a portion of my downtown dollars, I headed to Blonde Inc, my favorite salon, and went to my favorite girl, Shauna, and chopped 6 inches off my locks.

I did a lot of other downtown browsing, checking out local beauty boutique, Made You Blush, and home decor stores Urban Almanac and Room 2 Remember, but ended up using the remainder of my downtown dollars to go on a wine date with the fella at Corked, a wine bar that we've been meaning to have a date night at for quite some time!

Overall it was a great little downtown experience, and a great reminder to bring it downtown this holiday season!
