Fall Shoe Round Up!

Fall seems to come with the need for many, many shoes. I'm not sure what it is, but I find myself easily rattling off 5 or 6 pairs I "need" for the season... "I really need a tall boot I can wear to work, and black booties, and flats that work with tights, and snow boots..." - it's endless, really.

So I've rounded up a few favorites in each category that will easily get you through the fall & winter season. Admittedly, I'm missing a rain boot from this round up, and it's also lacking a hot night out sort of boot (but who am I kidding, I don't actually wear those...) but I've got you covered for a versatile dressy boot you can wear both to the office and for a night out, a lace up flat in a beautiful fall hue, a jewel embellished tweed flat (that are SUPER affordable), a great casual tan bootie, a cozy pair of slippers, a super fun sneaker, a classic over the knee boot, lace up brogues that are perfect for the office, a snow boot in a fun buffalo plaid, and a classic pointed toe chelsea bootie

A couple of these will definitely be in my closet this fall! What fall shoe are you in the market for?

Spring Shoes

Our ground is pretty much bare (though I still feel like we might still get one last snowstorm) but it's still been too chilly for spring shoes just yet. So for now, I'm dreaming, scheming and occasionally purchasing to get myself ready for when the warm weather does hit! I'd LOVE to add each and every one of these to my closet! I DID purchase the Dolce Vita ones (but in black) and they are the most perfect wedge I have ever tried on. They are so comfortable, but still super chic and will go with absolutely everything. I cannot wait to wear them all summer long. I'm also super swooning over those Matko sandals - the fringe and the lace up ankle strap are just too cute! These come in black as well, and did come in tan but have since sold out. So darn cute!

Embellished Sandals

Embellished Sandals

Lately I've been loving metallic & embellished sandals - they add such a subtle dose of glam, and I love things that can be worn both casually and to dress up. These sandals definitely fit the bill.

I have yet to find a pair myself, but my favorite ones by far are those gorgeous pair by Dune on the top right. They are perrrrfect. I first saw them on Crystalin and love them so much every time I see her post them! Summer is pretty short where I live though, so I always am a little hesitant to invest in sandals, and usually opt for inexpensive options.

Those sweet bow ones above are currently on sale for less than $25 and could so easily be dressed up or down. The Guiseppe Zanotti Flat Sandals (here, though  I realized after putting them in my collage they are pretty hard to track down, but there are lots of other cute options here!) I can totally see making for a sweet wedding shoe if under your gown if you didn't want to wear heels, and they give off almost a Grecian feel.

Sole Society has a few super cute options, but overall I think Dune wins the "cute embellished sandal" award. ;)

Have you seen any others around you think I should know about??

Spring Shooooes!

Slowly but surely, the snow is melting and SOON (I hope) I'll be able to start wearing shoes again! I couldn't be more excited to ditch the boots, so I've rounded up some seriously adorable spring styles! Flats, sneakers & slip-ons tend to be what I'm drawn to these days, but a few pretty wedges & heels are always good to throw into the mix. What pair is your favorite?

Wet Weather

Rain boots to fit any style! Great alternatives to classic hunters!

While rain boots may be thought of as more of a spring thing, they definitely come in super handy during the winter. They are not warm by any means (if we're talking true Canadian winters!) though inserts and insoles can help that. But trudging through slushy, snowy, wet grossness is made much easier when you're wearing waterproof boots!

I'm not sure about other parts of the world, but here in Canada they use salt on the streets and sidewalks to combat the ice so things aren't as slippery, and these wreaks havoc on your poor leather boots. They get absolutely ruined with salt stains. So aside from staying nice & dry, rain boots also help to preserve your nice leather boots for better weather!

Above is a roundup of rain boots in all price ranges. We all love the classic hunters, but if you want something a little different or aren't willing to shell out $175 for a pair of wellies, here are some alternatives for you! Over half of these are under $100 and range from sleek little booties that don't even look like rain boots to more classic styles!

A Sweet, Simple Flat

One thing my wardrobe is seriously lacking right now is a pair of black flats. My ones from previous years have officially died, and they are an absolute essential for me. Every morning when I get dressed I end up frustrated with what shoes to wear, knowing that a simple black flat would be exactly what I need.

I've been eyeing these 3 pairs from Zara - they're all super affordable, pretty little flats but I can't decide which ones I like best!

So what do you think? The quilted, the patent or the jeweled?

Crazy for Keds

All of the above can be found here

Ever since getting my Kate Spade glitter Keds, I've been reaching for them non-stop. I know that I need to slow down with wearing them so much if I want to make them last, which I do, as they're not available any more! So I've been thinking that maybe it would make sense to add another pair of keds to my wardrobe - they're cute, they're comfy and they're extremely practical!

My eyes are on the black mesh slip-on ones above, though I'm also contemplating any of the 3 dotted pairs. Oh heck, who am I kidding? I want them all.

This is by no means a sponsored post, they're just a new obsession that I can't seem to get enough of lately! Which pair is your favorite?

Happy May!

The return of the Practical Pump

mid heel pointed toe pumps

I've been noticing a trend in the shoe world lately that makes me a little bit excited - it's the return of the practical pump! Somehow over the years we've jumped to thinking that 4-6" heels are "normal" and that everything else looks frumpy, but I've seen a lot of super cute pumps lately that hover around the 3.5" mark, meaning they would be super easy to wear all day long, and equally as easy to walk in (no more awkward stumbling for those who haven't mastered a mega high heel!)

All of the shoes above are below 4" in height and are completely adorable. I like the idea of returning to a classic feminine shape without the cutesy vintage vibe that tends to be associated with a lot of mid-heels.

How do you feel about the mid-heel? Is it something you'll be sporting or will you be sticking to your sky-high platforms?

The Beige Boot

Lately I find myself absolutely obsessed with tan/beige/nude suede ankle boots. They look great with bare legs and summer dresses, and add such an effortless edgy vibe to all your summer outfits. Plus, they'll transition perfectly into fall and look amazing with black opaque tights in the colder months. I hesitate to spend a lot of money on summer-only items, as our season is so short... there are only about two months of the entire year that we can frolic around in bare legs and pretty dresses and sandals, so any investment pieces must be able to transition into fall & winter for me!

What are your thoughts on this trend?
